Hillsborough Prepares for Fireworks Show

Independence Day celebration set for June 29 at Auten Road Intermediate School.

The only thing not in place for Hillsborough’s annual Fourth of July fireworks later this month is the weather.

After rain doomed last year's display, this year's show is set for Friday, June 29 at .

"I encourage everyone to come out with their families and enjoy a full night of amazing fireworks to help celebrate Independence Day,” Mayor Carl Suraci said.

This year’s celebration will again feature the popular food tent and a live DJ. Shuttle buses will be available from both on Triangle Road and on Raider Boulevard beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Sponsoring the fireworks display is the Hillsborough branch of TD Bank on Route 206.

The township’s budget constraints in 2010 forced the cancellation of the fireworks.

"We are extremely grateful to TD Bank Hillsborough for supporting this cause after all the rescheduling and rain dates that plagued last year’s event,” said Committeeman Bob Wagner, the governing body’s liaison to the Parks and Recreation Department. “We are happy to continue this important community event to celebrate our nation’s freedom.”

The rain date is Saturday, July 7.
