Tour of Somerville Cycles Through Hillsborough
About 120 riders take on the 75-mile professional road race.
As part of the Tour of Somerville, 120 professional riders took on the 75-mile road race through 13 municipalities, including Hillsborough on Saturday morning. Beginning at the Somerset County Administration Building in Somerville, the race was led by New Jersey State Police and Somerset County Sheriff's Department.
The race was run in a "pocket" with all the racers staying in a pack between the lead vehicles and trailing vehicles including buses and trucks. If a rider drops off the pace of the pack, the racer must drop out of the event to maintain their safety.
The Tour of Somerville continues with six races on Monday beginning at 10:45 a.m., and running throughout the day.
