Frank Mitchell Scores 18 in Ithaca College Loss

Hillsborough senior shares lead scoring for team in Tuesday's game.

The Ithaca College men's basketball team (1-2) lost to Oswego (2-1) Tuesday night, falling to the Lakers by a score 99-73 at Max Ziel Gymnasium.

Seniors Frank Mitchell, of Hillsborough, and Tom Sweeney, of Pennsylvania, each put up 18 points in the defeat. Mitchell narrowly missed his second-straight double-double, collecting nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Junior transfer Keefe Gitto, from Massacheusetts, contributed eight points off the bench.

The Bombers shot 46 percent from the floor, hitting 26 shots on 56 attempts. Ithaca out-rebounded the Lakers, recording 40 boards compared to Oswego's 38.

Ithaca hung with the host Lakers in the beginning of the contest, trailing by just six points with 16 minutes to go in the opening half. Oswego then scored 13-straight points, taking a 27-8 lead in just over a four minute span. 

Oswego continued to score and took a 30-point lead into the half. The Lakers never game up the lead, defeating Ithaca by a score of 99-73.

The Bombers are back in action against Hobart on Nov. 22, marking their fourth-straight road contest. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
