Patriots Win Fourth in A Row

Pitching stellar as Somerset shuts down Blue Crabs.

The defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 3-0 before 6,513 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

Jesse Hoorelbeke (3) got the Patriots on the board with a solo home run in the second inning.

Somerset made it a 2-0 game on an RBI single by Yusuf Carter, plating Aaron Mathews, who drew a walk earlier in the frame.

The Patriots extended the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Johnny Drennen for a 3-0 advantage.

Patriots starting pitcher Paul Phillips (1-0) got the win after tossing five scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and striking out four batters. Rayner Oliveros (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on six hits in 3.2 innings pitched. Josh Rupe picked up his second save of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season will continue at home on Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. game against the Blue Crabs. The game includes stress balls for the first 1,000 fans.The first 2,000 fans will also receive an autograph book and there will be a pre-game autograph session and a chance for all kids to run the bases after the game.
