Clark Diggs Launches Somerville Students on Fitness Challenge

Students join challenge to be part of school's fittest class in the Joetta Clark Diggs Foundation Fitness Challenge.

Hillsborough's resident NJ Hall of Famer Joetta Clark Diggs' Fitness Challenge works to get young students on a path towards better health, and this week, she stopped by Somerville's Van Derveer Elementary School to recognize the school's fittest grade at the conclusion of the fifth annual Fitness Challenge, presented by Sanofi US.

The students began the Joetta Clark Diggs Fitness Challenge in October competing in push-ups, sit-ups, standing broad jumps and a mental challenge.

Students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades all participated in the Fitness Challenge. Each individual from the class was given five opportunities to train with Joetta’s Athletic Advisory Counselors to prepare for the final competition. The best scoring averages were obtained from the respective grades to determine the FITTEST GRADE at Van Derveer Elementary School.
