New Jersey state law requires public school districts to be in session for 180 days. That means, if no other emergency days are used, the four-day Memorial Day originally on the district calendar will be extended on both ends, Superintendent of Schools Jorden Schiff announced at Monday's school board meeting.

Thursday, May 24 and Tuesday, May 29 have been added to the holiday weekend. Friday, May 25 was already scheduled as a vacation day and Monday, May 28 is Memorial Day.
