Shelter from the Storm Sends Attendees Around the World

The school's annual charity carnival sent attendees around the world without even leaving Hillsborough.

The sounds, sights, entertainment and foods of various cultures filled the Hillsborough High School commons last week, as students from the high school ran their annual Shelter from the Storm charity carnival and multicultural festival.

With many of the world's major countries represented, the event allowed attendees to sample each country's culture through games, cuisine and entertainment.

Local performing groups got involved too, showcasing their talents at regional dances, activities and through recreations of cultural traditions.

While the carnival was free to enter, games, activities and food cost a small fee—which was then donated to the Central Asia Institute for schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
