Rowland’s 10 Kills Not Enough to Topple Hunterdon Central

The Hillsborough High School girls volleyball team hosted Hunterdon Central Thursday losing 2-0 in a closely contested match.

IN SHORT

The first game went back and forth until at 14-all the visitors were able to put a couple of small runs together and pull away just enough to win 25-21.

The second game the Raiders were able to put together 5 straight points to pull ahead 8-3. But the Red Devils responded with runs of their own to pull ahead by 13-10. The Raiders were able to get back to even at 18-all but just as in the first game at the end the visitors put together just enough to win.

Olivia Rowland, Middle Hitter – Led the team with 10 kills and 9 blocks.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Katie Moore, Setter – Directed the offense with 20 assists.

Erin Gannon, Libero – Led the defense with 16 digs. Also had 3 aces on serve.

UP NEXT – The team will have a busy week next week with an away game at Voorhees on Monday at 5:00 p.m., a first round Somerset County Tournament game on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday at home vs. Delaware Valley at 5:00 p.m. (senior night), and Friday at Mount Saint Mary Academy at 3:45 p.m. The Somerset County tournament continues next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hillsborough.
