Raiders Fall to Franklin Despite Roller's TD Return

Hillsborough's Banaciski rushes for 175 yards in loss.

The Hillsborough High School football team fell to Franklin on Friday night, 49-20. Junior John Banaciski led the way for the Raiders, rushing for 175 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

IN SHORT
The visiting Franklin Warriors amassed an incredible 475 yards on the ground and 121 in the air as they scored touchdowns on seven of their first nine possessions.

The Raiders had the lead early in the game as they took the opening kickoff and marched downfield with Banaciski scoring on a 16-yard run. The Warriors, however, scored on their first three possessions to take a 21-6 lead and were looking for a fourth touchdown when Banaciski intercepted quarterback Karl Gray’s pass in the end zone.

Trailing 28-13 with 17 seconds left in the half, senior Tyler Roller returned the Warrior kickoff 81-yards to cut the lead to 28-20 at the half.

That was the closest the Raiders would come as Franklin scored on its opening drive of the third quarter.

RAIDERS OF THE GAME
John Banaciski, Running Back/Defensive Back – Banaciski led the offense with 175 yards rushing and two touchdowns. On defense his second quarter interception stopped a Warrior scoring drive and kept the Raiders close.

Tyshon Murdock, Tight End/Defensive Line – Played every down on both offense and defense for the Raiders.

TOUGH OPPONENT
Eddie Lee, Kye Morgan, Taoman Napier (Franklin running backs): The trio ran for 416 yards on 44 carries an average of 9.5 yards per carry. They scored six of Franklins seven touchdowns.
