IN SHORT

Prior to the match, the Raider senior wrestlers were honored and introduced to the crowd.  The seniors are: Paul Lyko, Matt McLaughlin, Shane Oryniak, Mackey Price, Andrew Roessner and Yohance Smith.

The match began at 132 pounds and when senior Mackey Price pinned opponent Jake Bobal in just 48 seconds, it looked like it was going to be a long night for Montgomery.  Although the Raiders jumped out to a 12-0 lead, Montgomery would come back to tie the score at 12-12 and go on to lead by a score of 28-12.  That is when senior Andrew Roessner took the mat at 285 pounds.  The match was very close as each wrestler knew the impact of this match, but with time running out, Roessner would pin Christian Lee at 5:27 to turn the Raiders around.  Two more pins, a forfeit and a major decision would wrap up the Raider scoring to secure the win for Hillsborough.

RAIDER OF THE MATCH

"Andrew's match really made a difference." - Hillborough Coach Steve Molinaro

COACH'S TAKE

"We figured it was going to be tight because of the way we pair up with Montgomery.  They have really been climbing over the last couple of years and they were right behind us in the county tournament.  Luckily, when are kids were getting beaten, they were not getting pinned.  Everyone did their job all along the way.  It all fell together and that is nice when it happens.  My hat's off to Montgomery, they have come a long way." - Hillborough coach Steve Molinaro

UP NEXT - The Raiders will travel to North Hunterdon for a quad meet with Franklin and Watchung Hills on Saturday, 10 a.m.
