Hofstra, Scranton and Other Schools Name Local Students to Dean's List

Fall dean's lists also include students at James Madison, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech, Pratt, SUNY-Oneota and Wilkes University.

Four Hillsborough students were among the more than 2,000 high-achieving students named to the Hofstra University Dean's List for Fall 2013. 

Students who began their studies before Fall 2012 must earn at least a 3.4 grade point average to qualify. Those who entered the university after Fall 2012 must earn a grade point average of 3.5. Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs Herman A. Berliner congratulates these students on their impressive academic achievement:

  • Darby Casey, a freshman majoring in Finance;
  • Nihal Honwad, a freshman majoring in Video/Television And Film;
  • Lea Kimmelman, a senior majoring in Psychology;
  • Gabriela Perez, a junior majoring in Journalism.

The University of Scranton has announced it's Dean's List, which recognizes students for academic excellence during the 2013 fall semester. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the Dean's List. The list includes students from the Jesuit university's College of Arts and Sciences, the Kania School of Management, the Panuska College of Professional Studies and the College of Graduate and Continuing Education. More than 1,380 students were named to the 2013 fall semester Dean's List, including the following area residents.

  • Catherine Boylan is a senior with a biochemisty, cell and molecular biology major in Scranton's College of Arts and Sciences;
  • Ryan Lumia is a junior with a exercise science major in Scranton's Panuska College of Professional Studies;
  • Deanna Russo is a junior with a occupational therapy major in Scranton's Panuska College of Professional Studies;
  • Alexa Vastano is a senior with a accounting major in Scranton's Kania School of Management.

The University of Scranton is a Jesuit university located in northeast Pennsylvania.

Lexie Ballah and Kristi Ivone, both of Hillsborough, were named to the Fall 2013 Dean's List at Coastal Carolina University. 

To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. To qualify for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time. More than 1,900 students qualified for the honor.

Hillsborough resident Alexis Marie Cavallo has been named to the president's list at James Madison University for the fall 2013 semester. Students who earn president's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or above. 

Cavallo is a sophomore whose major is Health Services Admin - BS.

Also, the following area students made the dean's list at James Madison University for the fall 2013 semester.

  • Danielle Gemignani, a sophomore majoring in Athletic Training - BS;
  • Emily Mirabella, a sophomore majoring in Interdisc Liberal Studies - BS;
  • Alexandra Wysocki, a senior majoring in Communication Studies - BS.

Pratt Institute congratulates more than 1,100 who made the Dean's List in the Fall 2013 semester, including Hillsborough student Ryan Burckhardt

Wilkes University Interim Provost Terese Wignot announced the Dean's List for the Fall 2013 Semester, which includes Christina Kwon and Alyssa Paterson, both of Hillsborough. To be named to the Dean's List, students must obtain a minimum 3.4 grade point average and carry at least 12 credits.

Hillsborough students John Limyansky and Michael Senoo have earned the distinction of Dean's List at the Georgia Institute of Technology for Fall 2013. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.

Erin Cascio has been named to the Fall 2013 SUNY Oneonta Dean's List.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 hours of more.
