Grand Staff Ensemble Brings Holiday Tunes to ARIS

The ensemble's 12th annual concert features holiday favorites.

The sounds of a Hillsborough school staff tradition are also the sounds of outreach, as this year’s Grand Staff Ensemble concert will serve as a toy drop-off for Ronald McDonald House donations.

The 12th annual concert is open to all Hillsborough residents, regardless of whether they attend the schools, and is set for 7 p.m. Dec. 20 at Auten Road Intermediate School. While it’s not a ticketed event, suggested donations at $5 for adults, $2 for students and seniors and $10 for families.

The ensemble includes Hillsborough teachers, students, staff and supporters, under the direction of Nancy Gallagher and Gary Smith. In the past, the ensemble’s performed seasonal favorites including “The Nutcracker”, “Hanukkah Begins Tonight,” “You’re a Mean On, Mr. Grinch”,  and other toe-tapping spins on seasonal tunes.

Those bringing toy donations should bring new, unopened and unwrapped gifts.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a Hillsborough High School senior who plans to pursue music in college. Additional donations are always accepted, and those interested in donating can contact Patti Robbins at thebynz@aol.com for additional information.
