District's Enrollment Dips by 36 for the 2011-2012 School Year

High school numbers increase by 26, while most other schools' enrollment numbers drop.

Thirty-six fewer students walked through the doors of township schools this month than were enrolled at the end of the 2010-11 school year.

According to Superintendent of Schools Jorden Schiff, the total enrollment as of September 2011 was 7,397 students – 36 fewer than in June 2011.

The numbers reflect a decrease of two students in the total enrollment of the district’s six elementary schools (from 2,727 in June 2011 to 2,725 in September 2011), 60 fewer students at Hillsborough Middle School (from 1,200 to 1,140) and an Auten Road Intermediate School enrollment that remained the same (1,102).
