Chef Billy Jakubowski Makes His Last Appearance at Woodfern Elementary
The "Traveling Chef" serves up cheese steak and BBQ chicken
For the past few months, Chef Billy Jakubowski has been on a mission to redefine the school lunches in the Hillsborough school system.
The chef has been traveling between all of the elementary schools, getting kids excited about the school lunch menus. His mission? Give the children better choices in school food. The method? From-scratch dishes like cheesesteak, barbeque chicken and stir fry.
But Jakubowski made his last meal for Woodfern Elementary School on Wednesday. The Bayonne resident will be leaving and taking a position as a banquet hall chef at Michael Anthony’s in Jersey City.

“The kids are really good and make you feel welcome,” said Jakubowski. “I’ve met a lot of good people here.”
One hundred ninety five lunches are served each day at Woodfern.
