Budget Topic at Next Community Partnership Network Meeting

The discussion will be less formal than the presentations at Board of Education meetings though.

The budget’s the subject of many meetings and discussions this month, including a Community Partnership Network meeting scheduled for April 6.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the Auten Road Intermediate School cafetorium and will include a budget presentation by District Superintendent Jorden Schiff.

A question and answer session on the budge will follow the presentation.

“The major subject will be the budget,” Judy Haas said.  “You will have the opportunity to discuss the budget with Dr. Schiff in an informal setting, less intimidating than the high school auditorium and friendly discussion on other things that are on people’s minds.  It’s open to everyone in the community.”

The presentation is just one of several occurring since the budget’s approval for the election ballot.  Board of Education members and administrators intend to speak to Home and School Associations, senior groups and other groups around town too.

The partnership network meeting follows a February network meeting, where community members met Schiff and listed their priorities for the district.  Those priorities included class sizes, improving communication between schools and improving communication outside of the schools.

The network meets on an as-needed basis and held its first meeting in October 2010.  The Wednesday meeting will be the third time its met since its inception.

The network aims to solicit input on schools and school operations during its meetings, asking residents, businesses, teachers and administrators for their opinions on various matters.   Potential areas for input include the direction the district should take with its new leadership, budget planning and other areas.

Though the focus is the school system—and the budget, for this particular meeting—those who do not have children attending school are encouraged to attend, as are township business owners.
