Baseball Literature Course To Be Offered at Hillsborough High

New elective is being developed to guide students through baseball's rich culture through literature.

The Hillsborough School District approved a new course proposal called "Baseball: The Soul of America" at the Jan. 27 meeting

The course will be developed and taught by teacher Shawn Layton and may explore themes like racial integration, the players' unions, baseball's popularity in Asia and Latin America, statistics, physics and fantasy baseball, according to this article by The Hillsborough Beacon

Among America's sports, baseball has been graced by so many fine writers who have written unforgettably about their love of the game like Jimmy Breslin, Jim Bouton, Roger Angell to name a few. Who's your favorite baseball writer, and what book would you recommend about the game?
