$24M in State Aid Slated for Hillsborough Schools

District sees $1 million aid increase for 2012-13 school year.

The Hillsborough School district is slated to receive an increase of about $1 million in state aid for the 2012-2013 school year, according to figures released Thursday from the governor’s office.

Under Gov. Chris Christie’s budget, Hillsborough schools are slated to receive $24, 923,766 in state aid next year, an increase of $1,672,559 over the $23,251,207 it received in both regular aid and unanticipated state aid. It’s an increase of about 7.2 percent, according to district officials.

School Business Administrator Aiman Mahmoud, along with other Somerset County School Business Administrators, expect to meet with state and county officials on the aid package Friday, according to District Superintendent Jorden Schiff. There, the business administrators will review the projected aid information, Schiff said.
