Township Set to Celebrate Senior Center

Municipal building's popular center mark fifth anniversary.

Hillsborough Township Mayor Frank DelCore and the Township Committee will be hosting a five-Year anniversary celebration of the Hillsborough Township Senior Citizen Activity Center at 9 a.m. Oct. 4,  at the Peter J. Biondi Municipal Building.  All Hillsborough senior citizens are invited to attend the anniversary celebration.

“It is my honor to announce this anniversary celebration," stated Mayor Frank DelCore at the Sept. 24 Township Committee meeting.

“We are very fortunate here in Hillsborough to have such an active senior population and having this center for them, centrally located here at the complex is a perfect fit,” added the mayor.

The 3,000 square foot activities area, open to all township senior citizens, consists of the main activity room where seniors can be found attending knitting groups, playing bridge or mahjong or just gathering and socializing.  The game room is frequented by those wishing to play billiards, play darts or table-top shuffleboard.

For the readers and computer enthusiasts, there is the computer / library room, offering a quiet respite for reading and surfing the web.

The facility was originally constructed at no expense to the Hillsborough taxpayers, but funded in part through a $49,000 federal grant secured by Congressman Mike Ferguson with the additional funding coming from developer contributions.

Residents are invited to attend the celebration.
