Township to Appoint Flood Commission Reps

The Township Committee will choose who will serve as representatives to the Raritan and Millstone River Flood Commission.

An appointment at Tuesday night’s Township Committee meeting has Township Administrator Mike Merdinger and Mayor Carl Suraci serving as liaisons to the Raritan and Millstone Flood Commission.

The committee will also appoint resident Bob McCray to a four-year term on the Municipal Utilities Authority.

There are no ordinances up for public hearings and vote. Two new ordinances will be introduced at the meeting, though.

The first ordinance, 2012-02, accepts a conservation easement on a portion of Sunnymead Road. The public hearing for the ordinance will occur on Feb. 28.

The second ordinance, 2012-03, accepts a deed of dedication for a portion of Ski Drive and Murray Drive. The ordinance will also have its public hearing on Feb. 28.

The considerations agenda includes a resolution for a contract not to exceed $3,614 with Princeton Health Care Systems for an Employee Assistance Program. The contract would begin Feb. 1 and expire on Jan. 31, 2013.

A second resolution authorizes an inter-local agreement between the Hillsborough Health Department and the Montgomery and Branchburg Township Health Department for Child Health Conference Services.

The third resolution authorizes the mayor and Township Administrator to execute its shared services health agreement with Millstone Borough.

A fourth resolution awards a contract to the Community Visiting Nurse Association for Public Health Nursing Services.

A fifth resolution authorizes an agreement between the township health department and the Women’s Health and Counseling Center for services. The agreement would run from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.

A sixth resolution amends an agreement with the Central Jersey Housing Resource Center, formerly known as the Somerset County Coalition on Affordable Housing, for existing affordable housing units at Hearthstone at Hillsborough, Crestmont Hills, New Center Greens and Stickel Properties. The contract is not to exceed $13,900.

The consent agenda authorizes the Rutgers University Cycling Team to hold the 2012 Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference Road Race in Hillsborough on March 3. It also includes an item allows the Township Administrator/Acting Clerk to advertise for bids for road paving materials, road paving and sidewalk replacements for 2012.
