If the Somerset County freeholder’s proposed budget is passed, it’s 2.25 percent tax increase will make this the third consecutive year for tax levy increases in the county, according to nj.com.
The estimated $231 million budget for 2014 would anticipate about $178.2 in collected tax revenue, a $3.9 million increase from last year. In return, the county would be able to maintain services currently provided to residents while avoiding a large number of layoffs, according to nj.com.
