Shared Municipal Court Services on Township's Agenda

A resolution authorizing shared court services between Hillsborough and Montgomery Townships tops the Township Committee’s agenda this week.

The resolution is one of the items on the meeting’s considerations agenda. Other items on that agenda include the transfer of a person-to-person and place-to-place liquor license, from Charlie Brown’s of Hillsborough Inc. to KBLJ, LLC. In addition, a resolution authorizes the re-appointment of a temporary help worker in the Department of Public Works that will be funded via the Clean Communities Act.

Another resolution accepts a name change from the former Somerset County Coalition on Affordable Housing and allows the township administrator to enter into affordable housing agreements for existing units. The Coalition on Affordable Housing organization is now known as the Central Jersey Housing Resource Center.

Though no ordinances are up for public hearing, two new ordinances will be introduced at the meeting.

The first ordinance, 2011-22, revises the minimum floor area ration in the township’s Gateway A district. A public hearing on the ordinance will occur Nov. 22.

The second ordnance, 2011-23, amends the sign area requirements for wall, canopy awning and corner signs in several districts in town. It will also undergo a public hearing on Nov. 22.

Several proclamations, including a proclamation honoring Somerset Valley YMCA swimmers Rachel Karan and Haley Tevnan for breaking the state 200-meter freestyle record for the 10 and under group, will open the meeting.

The Township Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Municipal Courtroom.
