Resolution for Irene Costs on Committee Agenda

The Township Committee's agenda includes an emergency resolution to cover hurricane-related expenses.

An emergency resolution allowing Hillsborough Township to accept cover the cost of Hurricane Irene expenses will be up for vote at Tuesday's Township Commitee meeting.

According to the meeting agenda, the resolution is under the township's considerations agenda. The agenda did not state the cost of the emergency efforts.

In addition, the committee will consider a resolution recognizing the municipal response to the storm, as well as recommending an investigation into certain public utilities. The utility companys were not stated in the agenda.

The considerations agenda also includes a liquor license transfer from Charlie Brown's restaurant to Richard M. Grosso and Mary Coleen Grosso, for a business in the Hillsborough Promenade. Charlie Brown's closed in 2010.

Another resolution will allow municipal employees to donate their unused sick time to other municipal employees who are suffering from severe illness.

Two additional resolutions will allow the township to enter agreements with Light Tower Fiber Networks, LLC, to install a new telecommunications system.

The township's consent agenda, if approved, will refund tax payments for seven properties in the amount of $16,960.88

The committee will also enter an executive session for negotiations with the DPW Teamsters Local 469 and the Policeman's Benevolent Association Local 205.

Two ordinances, 2011-19 and 2011-20, will be introduced at the meeting. 2011-19 clarifies the regulations for detention, recharge and retention basins and will have a public hearing on Oct. 11. The second ordinance, 2011-20, modifies the township code to redefine the definition of a shed. It is up for a public hearing on Oct. 11.

The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Courtroom.
