Negotiation Discussion on Township Meeting Agenda

The discussion will occur in executive session at the end of the Tuesday meeting.

The Township Committee meeting closes with an executive session on negotiations with the Police Benevolent Association Local 205—the result could determine whether the committee will rescind a layoff notice resolution from its March meeting.

Committeemen Carl Suraci and Frank DelCore, who serve as Finance and Public Safety liaisons, noted that the resolution does not require the township to issue layoff notices, but provides the window notice if the layoffs are necessary.

The township’s budget must be approved by May 10, meaning the township had about three weeks to discuss the contract since introducing the budget on April 12.

The agenda has no new ordinances for introduction; however, there will be public hearings on two ordinances.  The first is an amended ordinance, 2011-06, and handles the sale of an access and maintenance easement on Vroom Drive.  Vroom Drive is a paper street, meaning it exists on planning maps but has never been built.

The second ordinance, 2011-10, establishes the 2011 capital projects budget at $1,290,936.  , with the list then being sent to the Township Committee for approval.
