Hillsborough Police to be Honored at Committee Meeting

Two township police officers will be awarded the Medal of Merit.

Four proclamations will open Tuesday night’s Township Committee meeting, honoring special days, months and local police achievements.

The Township Committee will issue proclamations for Read Across America Day, National Nutrition Month, and will also honor Sgt. Karen Hoelzel and Officer Tom McClain with the Medal of Merit.

In addition, two ordinances are up for public hearing during the meeting.

The first ordinance, 2012-02, accepts a conservation easement on a portion of Sunnymead Road. The second ordinance, 2012-03, accepts a deed of dedication for a portion of Ski Drive and Murray Drive.

Three new ordinances will be introduced at the meeting as well. The first ordinance, 2012-10, changes zone designations for areas along New Center Road, Auten Road and Valley Road,  and in the Agricultural District and Economic District to General Industrial District, farms along Beekman Lane in the Economic Development District, to the Agricultural District, and an area on Auten Road that is in the Economic Development District to the Residential District.

The second ordinance, 2012-11, changes the zone designation for areas along on Route 206 that are part of the Route 206 from the Agricultural District to the Highway Service District.

The third ordinance, 2012-12, allows the township to use tax revenue for General Obligation Bond payments, in an amount that is not to exceed $8 million.

Each of the ordinances will undergo a public hearing at the March 27 Township Committee meeting.

The meeting’s Considerations agenda includes resolutions increasing the township’s Temporary Emergency Budget, awarding Hillsborough-Millstone Municipal Alliance contracts, and appointing Fred Versaci to the GSA Depot Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and Fred Versaci and Anthony Melfi to the Willow Road Complex Review Committee.

The meeting’s Consent agenda includes a resolution authorizing the refund of tax overpayments in the amount of $155,181.71, and a resolution accepting a maintenance bond from Bondex Insurance Company for paving performed in 2010 by A. Takton Concrete Corporation.
