Firework Approval on Committee Agenda

A Hillsborough tradition returns for 2011.

The Township Committee officially vote on a resolution for a public fireworks display at Auten Road School July 3, after a year hiatus for the annual festival, according to the agenda for its Tuesday meeting.

Initially cancelled because of budget cuts in 2010, the display is back with funding provided by Assemblyman and resident Pete Biondi and Provident Bank. It will include just a fireworks display rather than the carnival seen in previous years.

The resolution is just one of the items on the committee’s considerations agenda. Other items include hiring two summer employees for the Department of Public Works, at a salary of $10 per hour. The funding for the employees’ salaries will come from a Clean Communities grant.

The hourly rate for the contract would be $135 per hour, according to the agenda.

The committee will also consider a resolution authorizing a position announcement or advertising for the open Zoning Officer and Assistant Planner position.
