Hillsborough Democratic Alliance Monthly meeting w/special guest Assm Chivukula (D-Franklin)

Light refreshments will be served at 6:45 PM and the meeting, which will begin promptly at 7:00PM and end at 8:30 PM, is open to both current and prospective members. Special guest at this month's meeting will be Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula (D-Franklin) from the 17th Legislative District.  Assemblyman Chivukula holds the proud distinction of being the first Indian-American elected to the New Jersey Legislature, and only the fourth Indian-American to be elected to any state legislature. Upendra has resided in Franklin Township, New Jersey for over 30 years with his family and served as councilman, deputy mayor, and Mayor of Franklin Township before being elected to the NJ State Assembly in 2002. Hard work and dedication have allowed Upendra to inspire the public's imagination. An engineer who speaks a half-dozen languages, a husband and father who serves as a Deputy Speaker in the NJ General Assembly, Upendra is a leader and innovator whose focus includes economic development, education, energy, and the environment, just to name a few. As a recently re-elected official in our county and our neighboring legislative district, we will be discussing with him how Hillsborough can help bring in the Democratic vote in November.

The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance provides all participants with the opportunity to discuss the issues facing Hillsborough, Somerset County, New Jersey, and the nation. With Presidential, Congressional, Assembly, and Township Committee elections coming up this November, the Alliance is interested in gathering Democrats and other progressives who are interested in meeting with like minded friends and neighbors to discuss measures that would improve our town, state, and nation.

Members of the Alliance are also active in the community, and participate in a variety of charitable endeavors, such as the recent Holiday Adopt-A-Family program run by Hillsborough Social Services.  For further information, go to the “Hillsborough Democratic Alliance” group on Facebook or www.hillsboroughdemocraticalliance.com,  or email info@hillsboroughdemocraticalliance.com
