2010 Census: About 2,000 More People Now in Hillsborough

Town's Asian population increases over the last decade.

The population of Hillsborough Township increase by 1,669 people over a ten year period, according to Data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The data, which is broken down by race and ethnicity, showed slight decreases in certain areas and larger increases in others during the ten year span.

According to the data, the town's Asian population jumped by about 2,000 people, moving from 2,679 in 2000 to 4,743 in 2010.  The town also saw jumps in populations of other races, which jumped from 468 people in 2000 to 834 people in 2010.  The number of people stating they were two or more races increased from 562 people in 2000 to 799 people in 2010.

In addition, those identifying themselves as culturally Latino rose from 1,740 in 2000 to 2,893 in 2010.

The town saw decreases in the number of people identifying themselves as white, going to 30,109 in 2010 from 31,491.

The number of people over age 18 rose as well, from 25,963 in 2000 to 28,203.
