Annual Summer Carnival on Township's Agenda

The Rotary Club's annual carnival—formerly the Fireman's Fair—has its license up for approval.

The Hillsborough Rotary Club’s annual fair is back again this year, pending approval of its carnival license by the Township Committee this Tuesday.

The license is among the items on the committee agenda and would allow the club to host the annual carnival from Aug. 16-20.

In addition, the committee will also vote on a license for a June 12 benefit for the Salaine Cares Memorial Fund, which will be held at the Hillsborough Racquet and Fitness Club.

It’s not all fun and games, however, as an item on the committee’s consent agenda would allow the township’s Tax Assessor to prepare and mail estimated tax bills, in accordance with New Jersey State Law.

The township’s credit card program, which provides grants to local youth and non-profit organizations, will be renewed as well.  According to the agenda, the five-year contract would be awarded to Affinity Federal Credit Union.

The Public Works Department will have additional summer employees too, with the Clean Communities grant allowing the township to hire five temporary employees for the summer.

The agenda shows no new ordinances for introduction, and there are also no public hearings scheduled for the meeting.

Two proclamations will be awarded at the meeting.

The first honors Hillsborough High School Track and Cross Country Coach Rich Refi for being named Northeast Region Coach of the Year for Girls Cross Country.

The second honors artist Kathleen Fritz for completing her 10-month apprentice ship at the Art Academy of Hillsborough and the completion of her portrait of Doris Duke.
