After 37 Years With Township, DPW Director Says Goodbye

Buck Sixt says his career 'has been fun.'

When Buck Sixt started working for Hillsborough Township, fewer than 20,000 people lived here.

His job with the Department of Public Works didn't have to worry about clearing snow from Triangle Road or Country Classics neighborhoods—they didn't exist yet.

As the town grew, so did Sixt's job responsibilities, until Aug. 12, 2004, when he was named director of the department.

Along the way, Sixt helped the township acquire thousands of dollars in the Clean Communities program, save thousands of dollars by having landscaping companies volunteer to take care of roadway medians, and prevented countless accidents through his leadership in adopting brine applications to township roads ahead of storms.

Sixt is retiring in March, but the Township Committee wanted to take a few minutes at Tuesday's meeting to express the appreciation his fellow DPW employees and the committee have for his work.
