Vehicle Fire Damages Wesley Road Residence

No injuries reported in Christmas fire.

A vehicle parked in the garage of a Wesley Road residence is believed to have caused a fire that led to substantial damage to the residence, Wednesday evening, according to police.

Police said the homeowner reported a vehicle on fire in the garage at 11:06 p.m. Wednesday, which spread to the house by the time firefighters and police arrived. The family was already out of the house upon the first responders' arrival, and no injuries were reported.

Volunteers from Hillsborough fire companies 1, 2 and 3 quickly brought the fire under control, but substantial damage to the property had already occurred, police said.

Officials said the fire is not considered suspicious.

In addition to police and volunteer firefighters responding, Hillsborough EMS, building department and fire safety staff were at the scene. Firefighters from the Finderne and Neshanic Volunteer Fire Companies, as well as the Somerville EMS and Somerset County Fire and EMS Coordinators, also responded.
