Abdul Brima was issued a summons for underage possession of alcohol and released pending a court date.

According to a statement released Tuesday by the police department, undercover officers approached Brima as he exited the Bottle King on April 6 at about 9 p.m.

No further details were released about the arrest.

The "Cops in Shops" program is grant-funded awarded each year by the New Jersey State Division of Alcohol Beverage Control through funds provided by the Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevent, the Hillsborough Police said.

The operations are held randomly throughout the year in an effort to reduce underage drinking. Officers are stationed inside or near liquor stores and may even pose as store employees, Hillsborough Police said.

The officers monitor the sale of alcohol to minors and make the appropriate arrests. Store owners are also educated on how to better recognize fake IDs.

It's funded by the State! So where is the waste of police time and resources.

The state should be using this money for schools. Not trying to catch a 20 year old with beer.

LM7. I get your point, but at the end of the day the only way the government gets money is to first take if from the working citizens. Is this time or money well spend? I have no idea, because I have no idea how much of a problem something like that is. I know people well passed the age of 21, who shouldn’t be allowed to buy alcohol, but regardless of their age, so long as they take it home, drink it there, don’t endanger themselves or others ….. Who really cares? “You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”~~ Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931- 2005
