Undercover Operation Yields Arrest of Town Man

Police arrest 20-year-old for underage possession of alcohol outside Bottle King.

A 20-year-old township man was arrested for underage possession of alcohol outside last week during a "Cops in Shops" undercover operation by the .

Abdul Brima was issued a summons for underage possession of alcohol and released pending a court date.

According to a statement released Tuesday by the police department, undercover officers approached Brima as he exited the Bottle King on April 6 at about 9 p.m.

No further details were released about the arrest.

The "Cops in Shops" program is grant-funded awarded each year by the New Jersey State Division of Alcohol Beverage Control through funds provided by the Office of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevent, the Hillsborough Police said.

The operations are held randomly throughout the year in an effort to reduce underage drinking. Officers are stationed inside or near liquor stores and may even pose as store employees, Hillsborough Police said.

The officers monitor the sale of alcohol to minors and make the appropriate arrests. Store owners are also educated on how to better recognize fake IDs.
