Prosecutor: Family Beats, Wrestles With Cops

Mountain View Road residents tried to resist arrest Monday morning outside their home.

A father and his two children punched and wrestled officers and one kicked out a patrol car's window as they attempted to avoid being arrested Monday morning outside their Mountain View Road home, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.

George Teeple, 67, Kevin Teeple, 35, and Danielle Teeple, 30, were each charged with third-degree aggravated assault and obstruction of justice. George Teeple was also charged with third-degree resisting arrest and Danielle Teeple was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree attempted escape.

According to a statement released Tuesday by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Hillsborough Police Cpl. Brian McCarron conducted a motor vehicle stop of a Ford pickup truck on Mountain View Road Monday shortly before 11 a.m.

The driver, Kevin Teeple, exited the vehicle and walked toward his Mountain View Road residence, the prosecutor's office said.

The passenger, George Teeple, exited the truck and confronted McCarron, the prosecutor's office said. Teeple allegedly ignored McCarron's orders to get back inside the vehicle and was instructed he was being placed under arrest, the prosecutor's office said.

George Teeple then resisted being handcuffed and wrestled with McCarron, the prosecutor's office said. Kevin Teeple and Danielle Teeple then exited their residence and confronted Officer Jason Beverett, who arrived as backup, the prosecutor's office said.

Danielle Teeple punched Beverett in the face, the prosecutor's office said. Danielle Teeple and Kevin Teeple continued to assault Beverett by punching and wrestling with him, the prosecutor's office said.

Officer Christopher Engelhardt and his K-9 then responded to the scene and the three Mountain View Road residents were able to be placed under arrest, the prosecutor's office said.

After being placed in a patrol car, Danielle Teeple kicked out the left rear window and attempted to climb out of the vehicle before she was secured, the prosecutor's office said.

McCarron and Beverett sustained back and neck injuries and were transported to the Somerset Medical Center.

The incident near Brook Drive Monday morning.

Bail for each Kevin, George and Danielle Teeple was set at $15,000 with a 10 percent option.

WTF is wrong with people?? I've actually had good experiences with the Hillsborough Police. If they were in another town they might have ended up dead.

I can hear the banjos playing in that area.

The prison yard could use some lawn maintenance. Hopefully they will get a multiyear contract.

How in the hell is there a 10% option on bail for people who assault an officer of the law?
Carol May 16, 2012 at 01:06 AM
Their bail should be set higher for assaulting an officer. They need to be in jail and get the help to get off drugs while there. Absolutely disgusting when people act like that. I hope all officers who were there are okay.

Do the hillsborough cops have tasers, if so they should have used them in this situation. It said the K-9 unit was there as well but no reports of dog bites.

@ steve ... the Police, NOR anyone else in NJ is even ALLOWED to have a tazer. the dog was probably brought in last second to keep the situation under control. seems to me like ALL THREE should have been sent for a psych. evaluation.( especially the one who kicked out a police car window.

Its very sad how gullable people are. One side of the story and they swallow it like a chicks in their nest. Those poor, helpless officers were assaulted by a 67 yo, and his daughter? "Neck & back" injuries? LOL.
Deadone53 May 18, 2012 at 06:57 PM
@ Thomas, I guess you've never come upon an officer getting attacked by two or even THREE people at once.......( it happens more than you think ) ALL THE WHILE worrying that if just ONE of them gets your gun, that that would be the end of your life.

Amazing. Three little piggies get what they deserve, and everyone immediately rushes to their aid. wake up sheeple, we need to see more of this. This is what is good for America. Next time, hopefully the cops will wind up dead, and not just with minor injuries.
Deadone53 May 21, 2012 at 12:04 AM
@ John smith, WOW!!!!! I really hope you never have the need for an officer, Since it seems like you have zero respect for them.
