Prosecutor: Family Beats, Wrestles With Cops

Mountain View Road residents tried to resist arrest Monday morning outside their home.

A father and his two children punched and wrestled officers and one kicked out a patrol car's window as they attempted to avoid being arrested Monday morning outside their Mountain View Road home, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.

George Teeple, 67, Kevin Teeple, 35, and Danielle Teeple, 30, were each charged with third-degree aggravated assault and obstruction of justice. George Teeple was also charged with third-degree resisting arrest and Danielle Teeple was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree attempted escape.

According to a statement released Tuesday by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Hillsborough Police Cpl. Brian McCarron conducted a motor vehicle stop of a Ford pickup truck on Mountain View Road Monday shortly before 11 a.m.

The driver, Kevin Teeple, exited the vehicle and walked toward his Mountain View Road residence, the prosecutor's office said.

The passenger, George Teeple, exited the truck and confronted McCarron, the prosecutor's office said. Teeple allegedly ignored McCarron's orders to get back inside the vehicle and was instructed he was being placed under arrest, the prosecutor's office said.

George Teeple then resisted being handcuffed and wrestled with McCarron, the prosecutor's office said. Kevin Teeple and Danielle Teeple then exited their residence and confronted Officer Jason Beverett, who arrived as backup, the prosecutor's office said.

Danielle Teeple punched Beverett in the face, the prosecutor's office said. Danielle Teeple and Kevin Teeple continued to assault Beverett by punching and wrestling with him, the prosecutor's office said.

Officer Christopher Engelhardt and his K-9 then responded to the scene and the three Mountain View Road residents were able to be placed under arrest, the prosecutor's office said.

After being placed in a patrol car, Danielle Teeple kicked out the left rear window and attempted to climb out of the vehicle before she was secured, the prosecutor's office said.

McCarron and Beverett sustained back and neck injuries and were transported to the Somerset Medical Center.
