Police Investigate Auten Road Jewelry Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hillsborough Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An Auten Road resident reported that $12,475 worth of jewelry was stolen from her home after July 3.

The incident was reported around July 7, according to the Hillsborough Township Police Department.

Police did not specify the types of items that went missing.

Margeret Jensen, 49, of Hillsborough, was charged with driving while intoxicated after she allegedly struck a mailbox on Hughey Lane while driving a red Honda at 9:44 p.m. July 17. Jensen allegedly obtained breath test results of .25 percent blood alcohol and was released after also being charged with careless driving, police said.

Carol Martin, 53, of Ewing, was charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly striking a guard rail on Valley Road with a green Saturn on July 13. Martin was released after also being charged with careless driving. The matter is pending a blood analysis, police said.

A building contractor occupying an Amwell Road job site reported that $5,460 of construction metals were stolen from the site during the overnight hours on July 7.

John Taylor, 59, of Hillsborough, was charged with driving while intoxicated on July 3, police said. Officers reported investigating a report of an intoxicated man on Pond Court who needed assistance and determined that Taylor had been driving a gray Nissan prior to police arrival. Taylor was released after also being charged with driving while intoxicated in a school zone, driving an uninsured vehicle, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident. Police did not specify what occurred during the accident. The matter is pending a blood analysis.

An Omni Drive business reported that it was burglarized while closed on July 1. Once inside the facility, a cabinet containing medications was entered and cash and checks were reported stolen. The Hillsborough Police Detective Bureau is investigating.
