Overnight Rain Leads to Road and School Closings

Remnants of Hurricane Lee cause additional flooding and the closing of Route 206.

Heavy rains overnight into Thursday morning led to yet another  round of flooding, road closures and the decision to close township schools.

In addition to the list of local road closures, township police reported aroung 4 p.m. that both directions of Route 206 at Dukes Parkway East were closed at the Somerville border due to flooding in Raritan and Somerville.

As of 4 p.m., township police were reporting that the following roads remained closed due to flooding:

  • Dukes Parkway East from 206 to the Manville border
  • River Road between Roycefield Road and the Basilone Bridge into Raritan
  • Sunnnymead Road between Hamilton Road and Falcon Road
  • Blackpoint Road
  • River Road and Riverside Drive
  • Blackwells Mills Causeway
  • Millstone River Road between Amwell Road and Amsterdam Drive
  • Riverside Drive between Mill Lane and Clawson Avenue
  • Three Bridges Road
  • Valley Road at Roycefield Road
  • Elm Street Bridge
  • Studdiford Drive
  • River Road between Studdiford Drive and Beekman Lane
