No Evacuations After Gas Leak

Valinor Road closed for six hours Monday while line repaired.

Residents were not evacuated and no interruption of service occurred after a construction company struck a gas line near Valinor Road and Fairfield Drive around 4:00 p.m. Monday, Hillsborough Police said.

According to police, OTS of NJ, LLC, a Jackson-based utilities construction company, was working in the area when it allegedly struck the 4-foot main line, resulting in an odor of natural gas in the area.

Police subsequently closed Valinor Road between Willow Road and Fairfield Lane from about 4:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for repairs, they said.  It was then opened Tuesday morning, though additional repairs were being made, police added.
