Mysterious Powder Turned Over to State Police

Resident brings envelope to police station.

A Capricorn Drive resident received an envelope in the mail containing a white, powdery substance that couldn't be identified, police said.

The material, held inside a plastic wrapper in the envelope, was tested by the Somerset County Hazmat Team which determined the powder did not present a biological risk, after the resident brought it to the police station at about 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

Hillsborough police forwarded the material to state police for further testing, and are continuing to investigate the incident.
