Kevin Teeple has been charged with several indictable offenses, dating back to 2002.

In his most recent appearance on a criminal charge in Superior Court, he was placed on two years probation on Nov. 9, 2007 on a bad check charge in Hunterdon County.

Five months before that, on June 22, 2007, he was placed on a year’s probation on another bad check charge in Sussex County.

On Dec. 12, 2003, he was placed on three years probation after pleading guilty in Hunterdon to a theft charge. A charge of forgery was dismissed.

Two forgery charges against him in Hunterdon were downgraded in 2002, according to Superior Court records.

And Monday’s incident was not the first time Kevin Teeple has had a run-in with police.

In August 2003, Teeple filed criminal complaints against two Readington Township police officers in connection with a motor vehicle stop. After reviewing videotapes of the incident, Municipal Court Judge Edward Martin ruled that the officers had acted appropriately and dismissed Teeple’s complaints against the officers.

In connection with the incident, Teeple was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice and hindering his own apprehension.

On Tuesday, a $985.85 judgment was entered against Kevin Teeple in Small Claims Court in Somerville. The action had been brought by Rupcoe Plumbing and Heating, of South Plainfield.

In connection with Monday’s incident, the Teeples were each charged with third-degree aggravated assault and obstruction of justice. George Teeple was also charged with third-degree resisting arrest and Danielle Teeple was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree attempted escape.

According to a statement released by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Cpl. Brian McCarron stopped a Ford pickup truck on Mountain View Road Monday shortly before 11 a.m.

The driver, Kevin Teeple, got out of the truck and began walking toward his Mountain View Road home, the prosecutor's office said.

A passenger, George Teeple, also got out of the truck and confronted McCarron, the prosecutor's office said. Teeple allegedly ignored McCarron's orders to get back inside the vehicle and was instructed he was being placed under arrest, the prosecutor's office said.

George Teeple then resisted being handcuffed and wrestled with McCarron, the prosecutor's office said. Kevin Teeple and Danielle Teeple then came out of their home and confronted Officer Jason Beverett, who arrived as backup, the prosecutor's office said.

Danielle Teeple allegedly punched Beverett in the face, the prosecutor's office said. Danielle Teeple and Kevin Teeple then continued to assault Beverett by punching and wrestling with him, the prosecutor's office said.

Officer Christopher Engelhardt and his K-9 then responded to the scene and the Teeples were able to be placed under arrest, the prosecutor's office said.

After being placed in a patrol car, Danielle Teeple allegedly kicked out the left rear window and attempted to climb out of the vehicle before she was secured, the prosecutor's office said.

McCarron and Beverett sustained back and neck injuries and were transported to the Somerset Medical Center.
