Two Residents, Dog Killed in High Acre Drive Fire

Edward Kwiatek Jr., 69, and Theresa Kwiatek, 66, died at the hospital from injuries sustained in Thursday night blaze.

A fire at a High Acre Drive residence has claimed the lives of the couple and their pet dog, police said.

Edward Kwiatek Jr., 69, and Theresa Kwiatek, 66, both succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire.

According to the police report, the first responders at the location found Theresa Kwiatek outside of the house and performed life-saving procedures. Edward Kwiatek was found inside the house, and both were taken to Somerset Medical Center for treatment by Hillsborough Rescue Squad, but neither survived and were later pronounced dead.

Police said the couple's dog was discovered inside the home, already dead.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze, but said it does not appear to be suspicious at this time.

Many area fire companies and rescue squads responded to the fire, which was first reported shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday. The massive responses lined fire trucks along the length of High Acre Drive and onto Claremont Drive.

Fire crews worked for over an hour on the fire, which spewed smoke from the rear of the residence.
