Gas Line Leak Repairs Impacting Traffic

Hillsborough police issued a traffic advisory late Tuesday, as ongoing work repairing a gas line leak alongside Route 206, just south of New Amwell Road, continues.

Police say traffic may be detoured as the work continues.

Work on the site began earlier today, with the shoulder and turn lanes to the Sunnyland Plaza strip mall blocked. 

Local emergency responders searched for three days for the source of leaking gas, which was infiltrating local sewer lines and emanating odors that prompted calls to police for several days.

Calls centered in the area around Hamilton Road and Monday, crews began checking a gas pipeline running across Route 206 just south of New Amwell Road for leaks using robotic cameras.
