Family Escapes Amwell Road House Fire

Police: Blaze, which began in a bedroom, does not appear to be suspicious.

A family escaped injury Tuesday night when a , said.

Hillsborough Police received a report of a fire alarm activation and smoke condition in the single-family residence Tuesday night shortly after 8 p.m. The residents managed to exit the structure safely and no one was injured, police said.

The fire, which started in a second-floor bedroom, is under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious, police said. The family was able to return and stay in the home, police said.

Hillsborough Fire Department stations 36, 37 and 38, as well as the Neshanic Fire Co., Finderne Fire Co., Millstone Valley Fire Co., Hillsborough Rescue Squad, the Hillsborough Fire Safety Bureau and the Hillsborough construction official responded to the scene.
