DWI Checkpoint Nabs Two...for Pot

'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' program to continue through Sept. 3.

Hillsborough police participated in the annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" DWI program over the weekend, with police checking drivers between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Sunday.

The checkpoint—on Route 206 near Brown Avenue—yielded a pair of arrests, but not for drinking while driving. Instead, both drivers face drug charges.

A 22-year-old Bound Brook man and a 67-year-old Princeton man were each charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of the DWI checkpoint.

Hillsborough police participate in the programs sponsored by the New Jersey Division of Highway Safety during holiday weekends. The Labor Day campaign continues through the upcoming weekend, with more checkpoints possible.
