Driver Rescued After Vehicle Gets Stuck in 4 Feet of Water
Numerous Hillsborough roads closed Sunday due to overnight flooding.
Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding throughout the township and resulted in one car getting stuck in about 4 feet of water early Sunday morning, Hillsborough Township Police said.
According to Capt. Brian McCarron, the driver needed to be rescued from a vehicle on River Road near the Basilone Memorial Bridge at the Raritan Borough border at about 5 a.m.
The Hillsborough Township Fire Co., and the water rescue division of the Hillsborough Rescue Squad, along with the police, responded to the incident, according to McCarron.

According to the report, the driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and was safely removed and uninjured, McCarron said. No summonses were issued, McCarron said.
McCarron urged motorists to plan an alternate route around the numerous roads that are closed throughout the township due to the overnight flooding.

As of Sunday morning at 8 a.m., McCarron said these Hillsborough roads were closed:
- Riverside Drive near Mill Lane
- Riverside Drive at Clawson Ave.
- Sunnymead Road at Falcon Road
- Blackpoint Road at Amwell Road
- The Studdiford Bridge
- River Road between South Branch Road and the Branchburg Township border
- Blackwells Mills Road at Millstone River Road
- Millstone River Road between Amsterdam Drive and Millstone Borough
Dukes Parkway East was closed earlier in the day, but as of 4 p.m. was reopened. Basilone Memorial Bridge was reopened at approximately 5:15 p.m.
