Donation to Fund Township's Next Police K-9

Department's current dog is nearing retirement after years of service.

Hillsborough Township Police Chief Paul Kaminsky was joined by Dr. Ceasar DePaco, president and CEO of Summit Nutritionals International, Inc. March 12 for a check presentation ceremony at Police Headquarters.

The donation is to be dedicated for the future purchase of a new police dog once the department's current K-9, Raider, retires from service.

“I’d like to thank Dr. DePaco and Summit Nutritionals for the generous donation,” Mayor Frank DelCore said during a Township Committee meeting following the donation.

On hand for the presentation earlier in the day were Police Chief Kaminsky, Police Capt. Paul Merkeler and K-9 Officer Chris Engelhardt.

DePaco had contacted the Police Department late last year in hopes of making a contribution to the Township’s K9 Unit.

“Looking forward, we realize Raider has a limit on the number of years he can serve our township," DelCore said. "These funds will serve to supplement his replacement when the time comes.”
