Condo Fire Sends Residents to Hotel

Firefighters prevent Renate Drive fire from spreading.

A fire late Saturday night in a bedroom of a Renate Drive townhouse left the unit uninhabitable, for at least a while, according to police.

The fire at 910 Renate Dr. was reported at 11:22 p.m., and was quickly brought under control before spreading to other units. Police said the residents were able to safely get out of the property, and investigators are working to identify the cause of the fire.

All Hillsborough fire companies, as well as companies from Montgomery, Manville, Finderne and Middlebush responded to the fire in the densly-populated development. Hillsborough, Somerville and East Millstone rescue squads also responded, along with officials with the Hillsborough building and fire safety departments.

Hillsborough Office of Emergency Management personnel also reported to the scene of the fire, and provided assistance to the residents, who were taken to a hotel.
