Hillsborough High Grad Dies in Florida Car Accident

Ariana Daly pronounced dead at hospital after it took rescuers 20 minutes to remove her from car.

A New Jersey woman died after her car crashed with a tanker truck early Tuesday morning.

Ariana Daly, of New Jersey, drove a Chevrolet Cavalier into the path of a Mack tanker truck on westbound Gulf to Bay Blvd at 4:46 a.m., according to Clearwater Police.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, Daly is a Hillsborough High School graduate.  She had recently moved to Clearwater, the article stated.

The accident closed parts of the road during the busy rush hour. Eastbound lanes of Gulf to Bay Blvd were periodically closed for the investigation. Westbound lanes were shut down for nearly four hours. The road was reopened at 8:37 a.m.

Daly was pinned in the compact car for 20 minutes while Clearwater Fire and Rescue crews worked to remove her from the wreckage, according to investigators. Daly was taken to Morton Plant Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Joshua David Famous, of Clearwater, was the passenger in the Cavalier. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Bayfront Medical Center.

Jose Rosas, 30, the driver of the Mack truck, was not injured.

Daly, 20, whose birthday was just two weeks ago, was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on Gunn Avenue. She was the driver at fault, according to investigators. Daly tried to make a left turn onto Gulf to Bay Blvd when she ran into the 1999 Mack tanker truck.
