Attempted Burglary Reported at Duke Farms

The following arrest information was supplied by the Hillsborough Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A representative of the Duke Foundation reported a burglary to an abandoned building on the Duke Estate on Oct. 1.

The representative believed the burglary occurred sometime after Sept. 30, according to Hillsborough Police.

It appears the building was entered in an attempt to steal copper pipes, police said. Police did not say whether anything had been stolen from the building.

Donald Russel, 40, of Hillsborough, was charged with driving while intoxicated after an officer observed him allegedly driving an Nissan in the parking lot of 807 Eves Drive in a careless manner, and without headlights on on Oct. 8. Russel allegedly obtained breath test results of .11 percent blood alcohol and was released after also being charged with careless driving and driving an uninspected vehicle.

Kevin Akers Jr., 26, of Dayton, was charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly being involved in a one-vehicle crash on Sunnymead Road on Oct. 8. Akers Jr. allegedly obtained breath test results of .22 percent blood alcohol and was released after also being charged with driving an uninspected and uninsured vehicle, failing to stop, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.

Jose Caraballo, 23, of North Brunswick, was charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly becoming involved in a one-vehicle crash on River Road on Oct. 5. Caraballo allegedly obtained breath test results of .15 percent blood alcohol and was released after also being charged with careless driving, driving on a suspended license and driving an unregistered vehicle.

On Oct. 5, a Homestead Road resident reported a residential burglary that occurred sometime after Oct. 4. According to police $620 worth of jewelry was reported missing. The Hillsborough Police dectective bureau is continuing the investigation.

A Harrison Street resient reported a residential burglarly that occurred during the daytime hours on Sept. 30. At the time of the report, it was not know whether anything was stolen, Hillsborough Police reported. The Hillsborough Police detective bureau is continuing the investigation.
