$2,500 Award Offered For Help In Finding Franklin Girl's Assaulter
SOMERVILLE, N.J. - Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano,
Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy
Fitzgerald and Franklin Township Chief of Police Lawrence Roberts announce that
the investigation regarding the violent assault of an 18 year old female from the
Somerset section of Franklin Township, New Jersey is continuing.
Prosecutor Soriano states that on Saturday morning, April 26, 2014 at
approximately 6:29 a.m., Franklin Township Police received a report of a female
suffering from head trauma. Responding Officers located the victim outside
of a Vanderbilt Avenue residence. The victim was suffering from a significant
head injury and lacerations/stab wounds to her arms and upper torso. Officers
and medical personnel immediately performed life saving measures.
Additional Franklin Officers entered the victim’s nearby residence and conducted a security search for any additional victims or suspects. In the victim’s bedroom, there were obvious signs of a physical altercation, and the residence was secured as a crime scene. The victim was transported to an area trauma center with life threatening injuries and underwent emergency surgeries. The victim remains in critical condition.
Prosecutor Soriano states that detectives from the Franklin Township Police
Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit are
conducting the investigation. The investigation has revealed that the victim was
home alone at the time of the assault and a family vehicle which was parked at the residence was taken by her attacker. With the assistance of New Jersey/New York media and the general public, detectives were able to locate the vehicle early this morning.
Prosecutor Soriano further states that Crime Stoppers of Somerset County,
Inc. is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and
indictment of the individual responsible for this assault.
