Support Open Space Referendum to Open Land to Residents

I am writing this letter to ask the residents of Hillsborough to vote in support of use of the open space by providing Hillsborough residents greater accessibility to their tax dollars. I believe using the open space funds for park and recreational purposes will benefit all residents of Hillsborough.

It is a shame to have open space and have it inaccessible to our town residents. Opening walking paths and bicycle trails for enjoyment like what has been done at Dukes Farm will further enhance our town. Anyone who has been to Dukes Farms has been amazed at what has been accomplished. The Dukes Farm has universally been well received by everyone. Dukes Farm is a great example of open space used to benefit all residents. The passage of referendum would allow further development of our opens spaces for recreational activities.

I was very surprised to learn that Hillsborough High School has to run its cross country meets at Navitar in Bedminster. Hillsborough, despite a town of its great size and open space, does not have a cross country facility. The funds for the open space could be used for creating a cross country trail, not only for the high school, but for all runners in the township.

I believe that when people say that voting for the measure is diverting open space are not being entirely forthcoming.

In fact, voting for the measure would allow all residents to enjoy the open space that has been bought with our tax dollars. Vote yes to the ballot question on Nov. 5.
