A ribbon cutting for a completed bypass would have been a welcome event not a recent political photo op by the Governor for a 1.5-mile strip. Hillsborough residents should know that the reason the Rt. 206 Bypass road can't be completed is the raiding of the transportation trust fund by Gov. Christie to plug holes in the state budget.
Our Republican state representatives of Legislative District 16 did nothing to stop that and have done nothing to support investment in construction projects that are good for our district. To date the bypass construction has been funded by Federal stimulus money supported by our Democratic Congressmen. It is way past time to stop raiding designated funds and diverting funds from the purposes for which they were intended.
Let's not do that with our Open Space Taxes and vote no on the referendum on Nov. 5.
