Committee Colleagues Note DelCore's Achievements

As colleagues of Mayor Frank DelCore, who have had the privilege of working with him for the betterment of our community for the last several years, it is our pleasure to endorse him for re-election to the Township Committee this year.

Most importantly, we have been pleased to work as a team with the Mayor to firmly establish a business-like approach to local government, emphasizing fiscal responsibility by controlling expenses, reducing the size of government, paying off debt, and creating efficiencies. Our 2013 budget spent less than the 2008 budget, giving an overall 6-year record of flat spending, in the face of ever-increasing insurance and utility expenses, and flat state aid. Efficiency measures that helped make this happen included a merger of our court system with that of Montgomery Township, and the establishment of solar energy generation on the roof of the municipal building.

A particular focus of Mayor DelCore’s has been to develop a business-friendly local environment with the implementation of the Economic Action Plan, which was recognized by the Somerset Business Partnership as a best practice model for local economic development.  Many regulations and fees have been eased, and a customer-friendly attitude has been instilled in our government offices. Our local Economic and Business Development Committee, a public-private partnership of interest in the local economy, is a model for other towns, and recently drew Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, the state’s foremost business advocate, as a guest speaker.

We have also been very active in preserving open space and farmland wherever possible, in order to ease development pressure.  Under Mayor DelCore’s leadership, we have advanced in our partnership with Somerset County to clean up and develop the GSA Belle Mead Depot into a premier recreation facility, obtaining agreement with the County for them to first develop ball fields for Hillsborough, when clean-up is sufficiently advanced. We have most recently acquired the 235-acre PID parcel along Mill Lane, further preserving that key farming and open space area, with the potential for the establishment of running and biking trails for our residents to enjoy.

Mayor DelCore’s has always been a leader in emphasizing services to residents. In the last few years, he has been at the forefront of successful efforts to improve the quality of life for residents by establishing railroad Quiet Zones, facilitating the process for several neighborhoods to receive sewer coverage, and working with state officials to get the Route 206 Bypass constructed. It is with great pride and pleasure that we welcome Gov. Christie to our community to open the central portion of the Bypass, and we look forward to working with him to complete the project in the next couple of years.

It is clear that Mayor Frank DelCore is the only candidate this year for Township Committee with a proven record of accomplishment for our community, and with clear qualifications for and experience in public office.  He is also the candidate from whom we can expect further positive results and a continuation of the results-oriented, honest leadership to which Hillsborough residents have become accustomed.  We look forward to the opportunity of working with him on behalf of Hillsborough residents for the next 3 years.  We respectfully ask Hillsborough residents to re-elect Mayor Frank DelCoreon November 5th.
